Bonham ISD on Friday announced its decision to close the Bonham High School campus due to multiple confirmed COVID-19 cases.
“As you have been previously notified yesterday and today, BHS was alerted of 4 test-confirmed cases resulting in a significant number of students required to self-isolate due to being a close contact according to TEA guidelines,” said Kelly Trompler, BISD Superintendent of Schools in a press release.
Trompler said in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, all Bonham High School students will transition to remote learning from Monday, October 19 – Thursday, October 22.
Students have Friday, October 23 and Monday, October 26 off as illustrated in the approved school calendar – there will be no remote learning on those two days.
All BHS facilities will be closed from Friday, October 16 through Monday, October 26. In-students will return to in-person learning at BHS on Tuesday, October 27.
Students at Bailey Inglish, Finley-Oates, I.W. Evans and L.H. Rather will continue with in-person instruction on campus.
“It is imperative that every student at BHS take all appropriate precautions to social-distance and self-isolate over the next 10 days to help us reduce the spread of COVID-19. In order to return to in-person learning and extra-curricular activities, we are asking everyone to do their part! Please monitor your student at home for COVID-19 symptoms and consult medical professionals if needed. There is no requirement for a negative test result before your student returns on Tuesday, October 27, 2020,” said Trompler.
LUNCHES: Any student who needs a lunch from BHS next Monday – Thursday may pick one up between 11:45 – 12:30 from the (north) back cafeteria door. Please stay in your vehicle and the lunch will be placed in your trunk/back seat.
TECHNOLOGY DEVICES: Please contact Bonham High School for assistance with connectivity during remote learning.
CLEANING: We will use this time to thoroughly clean and sanitize all Bonham High School classrooms and work spaces.
