Bonham ISD announced Wednesday its plans to begin ‘At-Home Learning’ on Mar. 23 through Apr 10.

Dear Warrior Family

What a difference a week can make. I shared with the administrative team earlier in the week that in
some ways what we are experiencing has been horrifying (uncertainty and panic resulting in empty
shelves at grocery stores; a very real market downturn; canceling/closure of so many things we love;
worrying about our families). However, in some ways it has also been inspiring – like watching people
step up to make bold decisions around our state and country in terms of closing to prevent the spread;
seeing people step up in our own community to help their neighbors – i.e., the Pastoral Alliance
brainstorming ways they can assist students and families with food, educational and emotional support;
knowing that BISD staff made 2,192 phone calls yesterday to connect with their students; hearing stories
of people shopping for their elderly neighbors and delivering food.

I know you as parents and guardians are anxious about what is happening next with your child’s
education. I want you to know that we made the following decision in order to keep your children
healthy as well as provide them a rigorous education.

This communication is to inform you that the decision has been made to begin At Home Learning on
March 23 rd and continue this format through April 10 th – this is three (3) weeks. I will re-evaluate the
situation on April 8 th to ensure it is safe for students, staff, families, and visitors to return to campuses
for face-to-face instruction the following week. If we are able to return that following week, staff
would have a Workday to prepare to transition back to face-to-face lessons on Monday, April 13
th and students would return to campus on Tuesday, April 14th.

I remain hopeful that students will get to see their teacher again this year, athletes will take the field and run on the track, band and choir students will rehearse and seniors will be able to walk the halls of BHS many more times.

Your children’s teachers will be contacting you again on Thursday or Friday to explain in detail the At
Home Learning options. Instructional information will also be posted to the Bonham ISD Website by
Monday, March 23rd

I know there are many questions… After you have talked to your child’s teacher, feel free to send them
my way or to your campus principal. We are here to support your students and your families during this
new type of instruction. I am so thankful for all of the ways you are trying to help others during this time
as well! And as always, I am proud to be part of the Warrior Family!
