Following the 2019-20 UIL basketball season, five Dodd City Lady Hornet basketball players earned Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State team honors. The five Dodd City recipients are Dani Baccus (jr.), Rion Baccus (fresh.), Kylee Graves (soph.), Cassidy Herron (sr.), and Journie Hilliard (jr.).
Last season, the five all-state Lady Hornet players led their team to the regional semifinals, where they fell to state runner up Lipan by a final score of 48-35. In the previous three seasons, Dodd City reached the state championship game but lost to Nazareth in each championship game matchup. The last time Dodd City failed to reach the state title game was during the 2015-16 postseason. That season, Lipan ousted Dodd City in the regional tournament. In 2016, Lipan eliminated the Lady Hornets in the regional finals by a final score of 81-76, one game from the state tournament. Lipan went on to lose to Nazareth in the state championship game by a final score of 54-43.
