Honey Grove ISD’s Kenzi Phipps has committed to Texas A&M University-Commerce to be a member of the Lion Women’s Track and Field Team.

Phipps will have a major focus on the High Jump as she sets her sights on the next level of collegiate athletics.

“She has been a major contributor to the Lady Warrior Program as a whole by making her mark among multiple sports. Kenzi has really shone on the track through the years, setting the school record in the High Jump as well as being on the school record board as a member of the 4×200 and 4×400 relays, qualifying for the UIL State Championships in those events,” said the school.

“Kenzi has a willingness to train that precedes her natural abilities. This factor will be vital to her success on the next level. We are very excited to see what the future will hold for this seasoned track star as she will be in very good hands at TAMU-Commerce.”

The Lion Men’s and Women’s Track Teams have been in the national spotlight in recent years winning both Indoor and Outdoor National Championships for Division II Track and Field. They have produced multiple all-Americans and have seen success among their athlete’s academics as well.

“Congratulations on your success from all of the Warrior Family.”
