Texas’s new favorite Halloween candy beat out Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as this year’s most popular Halloween candy.
This year’s most popular Halloween candy in Texas, according to CandyStore.com, is Starburst.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups took the second-place slot, and Sour Patch Kids took third.
CandyStore.com looked at 13 years of sales data from 2007 to 2019, “looking in particular at the months leading up to Halloween.”
The National Retail Federation surveyed more than 7,600 people and expects a slight decrease in candy sales this Halloween season.
In previous years, candy sales averaged about $8.8 billion in 2019, $9 billion in 2018, and $9.1 billion. This year’s candy sales are expected to drop to about $8 billion.
America’s top five favorite Halloween candy, according to CandyStore.com, were Skittles, Reese’s, Starburst, M&M’s, and Hot Tamales.
