Shortly before 2 p.m., the Bonham Police Department received a call from a resident in the 100 block of Reich Street who found what appeared to be an old artillery round.
“The resident was clearing the lot when they found it and called it in,” said Lt. Hughes.
Plano Bomb Squad was called and believed it to be active. Shortly before 5 p.m., the bomb squad safely removed it from the property and deactivated the artillery incendiary round in a nearby field.
Hughes said the area has now been cleared.
