REGIONAL: Lamar County officials report fifth coronavirus related death, 96 cases total

Over the weekend, the Paris-Lamar County Health District reported two more coronavirus related deaths in Lamar County bringing the total number of deaths to five.

According to reports, all five deaths are affiliated with the Paris Healthcare Center nursing home who has 54 positive cases.

On Saturday, officials reported seven more positive cases that are not related to any nursing homes bringing the total number of positive coronavirus cases in Lamar County is 96. Of those 96, seven are travel-related and 89 community spread and only six cases reported to have recovered.

Several other nursing homes in Lamar County have been tested for cross-contamination.

Stillhouse Nursing Home reported 15 positive cases and120 negative with approximately 60 tests pending. Brentwood has three positive cases, 94 negative and more tests pending. And Legends has reported 51 negative tests with approximately 70 tests pending.

“All positive patients have been notified and quarantined immediately,” said officials. “It is imperative at this time that everyone continues to maintain social distancing and the Health District strongly recommends wearing masks in public places.”
