On Tuesday, both the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences of the NCAA announced their plans to postpone all fall sports, including football, amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Both of the Power 5 conferences said their plans include attempting to play fall sports in the spring.

The Big Ten was the first conference to pull the plug on fall sports with the Pac-12 following shortly after. These two conferences met with the remaining Power 5 conferences in an attempt to come together on a unified solution, but the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences made their decision ahead of the others after meetings internal amongst respective conference officials.

Officials from the ACC and SEC conferences have expressed a desire to play fall sports, but the impact on an official decision from the recent announcements from the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences remains unclear. Meanwhile, the situation is apparently more ambiguous within the Big 12 as there is a reported split amongst some of the schools in the conference regarding their desire to play sports this fall.
