Google recently deleted 16 smartphone applications from the Play Store after finding out the apps were infected by Joker malware.
FOX Business reported that Joker is able to subscribe unsuspecting consumers pay for services within any of the 16 infected apps without consent. The faulty malware can achieve this by identifying a victim’s phone number and geographic location. After that, it can apply for premium services close to the victim.
Furthermore, the Joker malware can hide any alert messages and in turn activate subscriptions and its services without warning. Subscriptions can be canceled manually through one’s bank account services. It is also recommended to delete any of the affected apps while also installing an anti-malware app to check your device for corrupt software.
