Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has introduced HR 127 — Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act — to congress that, if passed, would require gun owners to register their firearms annually and pay an annual $800 governmental insurance.
HR 127, referred to as Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act would establish a federal firearms registration system accessible by federal, state and local governments, including the military and the general public. The legislation, already introduced to congress, would require federal approval before any gun owner could loan another person the firearm.
According to the House Resolution, it would require a federally ran licensing program. Those applying for the licensing would have to be at least 21 years or older, go through a federal background check, psychological evaluation, complete at least 24 hours of firearms training and pay the $800 governmental insurance fee for the firearms.
