He hails from White Oak, Texas, but 6-year-old Christian is best known for his ability to fight monsters. Because of his dedication and strength, several regional law enforcement agencies heard the call for backup and delivered extra strength to the young fighter.
“What a precious day we have had meeting a little hero named Christian,” said President of Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop, Amanda Willows. “Mini Hooves of Love Miniature Therapy Horses, met this family while the organization was volunteering at a Ronald McDonald House for children. They told me about this amazing little boy who stole their hearts.”
Once told, Willows put the call out on social media and began making calls to her friends in law enforcement to see what special gifts they could get together for Christian.
Christian has a demyelinating brain disease, which has caused lesions all around his brain. He first fell ill when he was two years old after waking up from a nap and not being able to walk or talk. This particular disease attacks the brain, and the neurological system and doctor’s don’t know why.
“Now he is having heart problems along with several other health conditions because of all this. It’s heartbreaking,” said Willows. “This is why it was important to me to do what I could to help keep his spirits up and keep the fight going.”
Once Christian’s story was shared, numerous departments sent special gifts just for him.
Together with Mini Hooves of Love, Willows said she recently delivered those gifts to Christian.
“He was so excited and loved his gifts so much,” she said.
North Lamar ISD Police Chief Mike Boaz also added a special letter to Christian to let him know that he can always call North Lamar ISD Police Department for backup.
“I first heard of your story yesterday, and you have touched my heart. As police officers are supposed to sit tall in the saddle and be tough as nails, but it’s men like you that make the biggest impact. I have removed the three stars from my collar and a patch from my shirt and am passing them to you. I have attached the stars to one of our Lamar ISD police hats. Therefore, you are the Chief today and everyday… God bless you, my friend, and if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call for backup. Be safe, Chief Christian,” wrote Boaz.
“We also received patches and challenge coins for him from departments in Oklahoma as well as Texas. Christian was so excited and loved his gifts so much,” said Willows.
