The Reno Parks and Trails Committee decided this week that their annual Haunted Trail will be postponed until Oct 2021, but have created a free event to take its place.
“It is with sadness that we announce that Reno’s Haunted Trail is being postponed until next year,” said Amanda Willows. “We just wanted to do something free and fun for the whole family in this difficult year.”
Willows said the committee decided to host their first-ever Reno Monster Mash and Barbecue Cook-Off. The upcoming event is set for Saturday, Oct. 31, from noon to 6 p.m.
“We will have live music, a pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, games courtesy of Topp Gunn Auto Auctions and Aden Ann’s Boutique, many vendors, and a Trunk or Treat Contest,” she said. “There will also be free candy for all the kids as an extra special treat.”
For the Barbecue cook-off, Willows said there would be award-winning teams competing with delicious plates available for purchase. All proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
The Reno Monster Mash will be held at Reno Kiwanis Park, 6820 Pine Mill Rd.
“Careful planning is going into this event for maintaining social distancing and safety for everyone,” said Willows.
The event is set to bring locals from all over the county to the Kiwanis Park as the Reno Trails and Parks committee is once again joining forces with Afterlife Haunt and the Greater Blossom Development Association for the 2nd Annual Fright Fight Halloween House Decorating Contest.
