Sam Rayburn Board of Trustees on Thursday announced Steve Arthur will serve as interim Superintendent until the vacant position is filled.
Arthur, who is no stranger to Sam Rayburn ISD, spent 12-years with the district, starting his career as High School Principal and later being named Superintendent. He eventually took a Superintendent position at Whitewright, where he retired in 2019.
“Mr. Arthur officially begins on July 1st and will serve through December, or until a new superintendent is named. Welcome back Mr. Arthur! Once a Rebel, always a Rebel,” said the school in a statement online.
On June 9, Dr. Cole McClendon announced his decision to resign as superintendent after four years. McClendon accepted the same position at Alba-Golden ISD.
