Texas is the first state in the nation to reach near a million COVID-19 cases.
According to Reuters, had Texas been a country, it would be ranked 10th in the world for COVID cases. The state also accounts for more than 10 percent of the total U.S. COVID cases.
Texas has witnessed more than 19,100 COVID-19-related deaths.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, since October, the weekly COVID-19 case average has more than doubled and hospitalizations have increased by 90 percent.
