Trenton ISD releases summer workout schedule

Trenton Independent School District announced its plans to open a summer workout schedule held at the high school for all incoming Trenton ISD students from grades seven through 12.

The school district first announced the news on its Facebook page, “On behalf of Trenton ISD Athletics, we are excited to announce our plans to return to in-person training for our student-athletes. The health and safety of our student-athletes is our number one priority. The following guidelines are based on current information regarding COVID-19 and guidance from the University Interscholastic League (UIL). The camp is free to all incoming 7-12 grade athletes and it is completely voluntary. If you have any questions regarding camp please email your coach.”

The schedule will begin June 8 for incoming high school girls, with girls entering ninth and tenth grades participating from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and incoming junior and senior girls going from 7 to 8 p.m. Junior High girls will begin July 13 with times to be announced.

Incoming Trenton High School male athletes will begin June 29 and will participate each day from 7 to 8 a.m., while Junior High boys will go from 7 to 8 a.m. beginning July 13.

The camp will consist of running, ladders, bags, cone work hurdles with each station having 10 feet of separation between them, while groups will change each Monday. Each group will consist of 15 or fewer people, and workouts will be held on the high school’s track.

The camp will be run according to COVID-19 guidelines, and other camp requirements can be found on the school district’s Facebook page.
