Fannin County officials today confirmed skeletal remains discovered in Collin County are Helen “Ashley” Hamm who has been missing since Feb. 19, 2019.

On Mar. 12, Collin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that human remains were located in Indian Creek on County Road 673 near Blue Ridge, Texas. Fannin County Sheriff’s investigators, along with the Texas Ranger responded to the scene.

“The remains were extracted by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office and those remains have been positively identified as Helen Ashley Hamm, who has been the focus of a FCSO missing person investigation since February of 2019,” FCSO Sheriff Johnson stated, “We have not stopped searching for Ashley in the past year and this will bring some closure to her family and it gives my investigators new leads to follow. We are treating this as a homicide and will continue following the evidence and working to make sure justice is served for the person or person(s) responsible”.

Debra Parks Hamm, Ashley’s mother, took to Facebook on Mar. 22, confirming the remains found was her daughter.

“I want to start by sincerely thanking each one of you whoever posted a story, post or pic of my daughter, Ashley Hamm,” said Debra Parks Hamm on Facebook. “I don’t even know how to say this but I wanted to say something before you hear it on the news tomorrow. My beautiful girl was found deceased in a creek last Thursday. She has probably been there the whole time we have been looking for her. Our hearts are broken into a million pieces. But we are also thankful the wait and wonder is over, definitely not what we thought the ending would be.”

Since Hamm’s disappearance, then FCSO investigators, Texas Rangers, Texas Game Wardens, numerous Law Enforcement Agencies and volunteers have conducted intense ground searches, followed leads to numerous counties throughout North Texas.
