The Texas National Guard will be back in Fannin County on May 9 offering free COVID-19 testing after a “significant” turnout on Wednesday.
Officials said 27 people were tested at the Fannin County Multipurpose Complex on April 29 which is a significant number for a rural county, according to the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
To date, there have been 18 confirmed coronavirus cases in the county which is a significantly less number than neighboring counties.
“I think we’ve been really blessed, and I hope that being a rural area and more spaced out, that curse will pass us over,” Fannin County spokeswoman Tammy Biggar told KTEN.
Again, the next round of testing will be for those currently experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms.
Additional pre-screening may also be performed prior to administering the COVID-19 test.
