Honey Grove ISD Superintendent Todd Morrison on Wednesday confirmed four students have tested positive for COVID-19.

“Our covid numbers are fluctuating daily. This strain is very active. We are implementing safety measures to keep staff and students safe,” said Morrison in a letter sent to parents.

The school has put in place two phases to protect staff and students.

PHASE ONE: all faculty in masks. This will be activated with 7 active lab-confirmed positives.

PHASE TWO: all staff and students, first grade and up, will wear masks. The second phase will be activated when we have 10 active lab-confirmed cases.

“When we initiate the phases, we will be in masks for two weeks from that date of initiation. When the two weeks are over and we are below the threshold, we will remove the mask requirement.”

Morrison said the decision didn’t come without careful consideration for all.

“If we have to go to phase two, we will still take medical and religious exemptions for your students. You will be notified by our alert system if we start a phase.”
