OSBI, Law Enforcement partners, searching for suspect in Sequoyah County double shooting

ANTLERS, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is searching for Lee King in connection with a double shooting that occurred Saturday night in Sequoyah County. King is considered armed and dangerous and the public should not engage or approach him. If you see him, please call 9-1-1 or the OSBI at (800) 522-8017 or tips@osbi.ok.gov immediately.

Below is a timeline of the investigation thus far:

Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 8:30 p.m.
* The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a double shooting at mile marker 293 on I-40.
* The two victims are identified as 39-year-old John Derek Riggs and 32-year-old Jake Myers.
* Riggs and Myers were seen on surveillance video at a Love’s Travel Stop in Vian, Okla., buying a gas can and purchasing gas for the suspect. They are believed to be good Samaritans who were trying to help the suspect and did not know him previously.
* The three men then got into the victim’s vehicle and drove to the west out of the Love’s.
* It is believed that the suspect’s vehicle ran out of gas.
* Riggs and Myers were shot inside their vehicle.
* The suspect’s vehicle matches the one stolen during a carjacking in Oklahoma City Saturday morning. (For details on the Oklahoma City case, please contact the Oklahoma City Police Department.)

Sunday, July 18, 2021
* An Antlers police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the stolen vehicle driven by the suspect. The suspect led the officer to a dead-end road where he took off on foot into a heavily-wooded area in Antlers.
* The suspect was last seen in Antlers at approximately 9:30 Sunday morning.
Monday, July 19, 2021
* OSBI Crime Scene Agents and the Latent Print Unit from the OSBI laboratory are in Antlers processing the stolen vehicle, along with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
* Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, Lee King is identified as the suspect involved in the double shooting from Saturday night.
*King is known to have connections to the Shreveport, LA area and the Houston, TX area.
* Law enforcement from sheriff’s offices and police departments in the Antlers area are assisting with the investigation, along with the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
* The search for King has not stopped and won’t stop until he is located.

Riggs and Myers are both from Arkansas. One was shot in the face and the other was shot multiple times in the torso. They were transported to Arkansas hospitals where they are in critical condition but are expected to survive.
