Rain or shine, the Bonham Out of the Darkness Community Walk will go ahead tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 2 beginning at 8 a.m.
The Community Walks, held in hundreds of cities across the country, are the core of the Out of the Darkness movement, which began in 2004. These events give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.
A free breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. with registration and booths open. At 8:30 a.m. there will be an opening ceremony and the walk starts at 9 a.m. concluding at 10:30 a.m.
“The parking lot will be full so please share rides if you can,” said the organization. “Please bring cash to spend on raffle items.”
The walk course is 2.5 miles and there will be golf carts coming by to pick up any who need a ride.
The event is being held at Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham.
