Tammy Biggar, County Clerk and Public Information Officer stated since 1981, Title 6, Chapter 144 of the TEXAS AGRICULTURE CODE, requires a brand or mark to be registered every ten years.

Cattle brands are filed with the County Clerk and submitted to the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. The fee, to register a brand/mark, in Fannin County, is $26.00 and includes one brand location on one animal. It is $5.00 for an additional brand/mark on the same animal. All marks, brands and tattoos that are registered between August 31, 2012 and August 29, 2021, will expire on August 30, 2021. A person may record marks and brands in as many counties as necessary.

Re-registration period is September 1, 2021 – February 28, 2022. A person who does not re-register their brand during this 6-month period forfeits legal rights to that brand.

The Application form may be filed in person, at the county clerk’s office, or mailed to Fannin County Clerk, 800 E. 2nd Street, Bonham, Texas 75418. Marks, brands and tattoos are filed in official public records. For more information, call the county clerk’s office at 903-583-7486.
