Dodd City Freshman Kaylen Atchley is state-bound after placing second in the 400m dash at Regionals over the weekend.
The 15-year old ran a time of 1:04;39 to advance to state being held at the University of Texas in Austin on May 8.
Atchley, who trains with Dodd City High School Coach Bruce Mauppin, started running in 7th grade and has come back strong after a year of no competition due to COVID-19.
“I love competing against other girls and pushing myself to do my best,’ said Atchley.
