Due to inflation, Domino’s is resorting to “shrinkflation,” and plans to reduce the number of wings in its $7.99 deal from 10 to 8.
The company’s CEO, Richard Allison, said they expect “unprecedented increases in our food basket costs this year versus 2021 of 8 percent to 10 percent, which is 3-4 times what we might normally see in a year.”
A Domino’s spokesperson told Business Insider the company “will continue to find the right cost balance for our franchisees and customers in 2022, as we work through higher input costs.”
As Domino’s is lessening the amount in the order, customers will only be able to order them online, allowing the company to save on expenses of someone answering the phone to take the order.
