Due to a recall, because wheels have a potential of falling off, owners of the 2021 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks are being told not to drive them, and dealers are being issued stop-sale orders.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, select dual-rear-wheel models of Ford’s F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 Super Duty trucks possibly have the front-wheel hub extenders improperly installed – which could lead to wheels and extenders separating from the vehicle.
According to NHTSA, out of the 17,616 dually chassis work trucks, some could be affected by the recall.
“Owners will be provided with a set of instructions to verify the hub extension torque,” Ford said in a release. “Some owners may choose to have a dealer verify the hub extension torque. This can be completed by the dealer utilizing a mobile repair process or towing the vehicle to the dealer for torque verification.”
If any repair work is needed, dealers are expected to perform all recall-related work for free.
