Fannin County officials address confirmed coronavirus case

Fannin County officials on Wednesday announced a confirmed case of coronavirus COVID-19.

“There is one case confirmed of COVID-19 in Fannin County,” said Tammy Biggar, Fannin County Public Information Officer. “This is an adult male, age 64. He has been quarantined at home and his case is not connected to any other confirmed cases in North Texas.” 

Dr Froelich, County Health Authority, said the man’s family (two total) are under quarantined at this time and have also been tested. They further stated he was not hospitalized and is doing excellent.

“The person who had the disease was aware of it almost immediately and it lasted a very short while. He was tested and did not know for several days because that’s going be the wait,” said Dr Froelich. 

Authorities could not answer if the patient had been around other people or not. They said he was tested Thursday, Mar. 12.

There are no other confirmed cases within Fannin County at this time.

Fannin County Judge Randy Moore has declared the county to be under a disaster declaration.

“Our community is encouraged to use extreme caution when considering group gatherings and to use social distancing,” Digger further stated.
