On Friday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that all Texas schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
During a press conference, Abbot said that schools in the state won’t re-open until the fall at the earliest after health officials recommended that the final month of the school year not take place.
Abbott also announced plans to re-open parts of Texas
“Step by step we will open Texas,” Abbott said.
State parks are set to re-open on Monday, however, visitors will be required to wear face coverings and continue to maintain social distancing. Additionally, they cannot be in groups larger than five.
Effective Apr. 22 current surgery restrictions will be loosened which will allow doctors to treat more medical conditions without getting an exception and beginning Apr. 24, all Texas stores can operate “retail-to-go.”
On April 27, Abbott will announce additional ways to reopen Texas in a “safe way.” More openings will be announced in May.
