For Paris Junior High student Ethan House, staying occupied at the moment may seem like the most important thing for any teen to be worried about. However, for this 14-year old, bringing a smile to his granny is at the top of his list instead.

House’s grandma, 60-year old Camelia Leverett, has Parkinson’s disease, and as a result, she resides at the Honey Grove Nursing Home. So, with the current COVID-19 pandemic, Leverett has been unable to visit with her grandson in the traditional way, which is hard on them both as House’s mom Samantha Wicks explained they have a close relationship.

“It’s hard for Ethan to understand all of what’s going on, as he is really close to his Granny,” Wicks said.

Although visitation restrictions are in place across the country for nursing homes, House takes the opportunity to visit with his granny the only way he can.

Not knowing what window was her’s when he arrived, Wicks said her mom left a sticky note stuck to the glass to let him know that he was in the right place.

“He was taking selfies with her and showing her his new phone and pictures of him and the new games he downloaded. He wanted to raise the window and hug her but that’s not allowed, so he put his hand up to hers on the window,” Wicks said.

Even with the occasional window visit from House, Leverett can keep company with her dog, Dolly. With Wicks adding that they both are enjoying facetime calls until her son is able to give her mom a big Texas sized hug again.
