Officials today confirmed it’s first case of coronavirus COVID-19 in Hunt County.

Hunt County Civil Attorney Daniel Ray said, “As of the morning of March 24, 2020, one patient has tested positive for COVID-19 in Hunt County. The patient is a 50-64 year old female from the southwest corner of the County. The County Health Authority is investigating the case, including the patient’s close contacts and immediate relatives with whom the patient has had contact.”

The announcement comes just a day after the county issued a ‘stay-at-home’ order which goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.

Similar to Dallas County, the order states that anyone not working under an essential service must stay at home. Essential services include health care operations, grocery stores and pharmacies and businesses providing critical infrastructure.

Monday’s resolution also called for all county buildings to be closed until Apr. 3, by which time the commissioners will have met again.
