As gas prices continue to drop nationwide, fears of the COVID-19 omicron variant’s economic impact may threaten future global oil consumption.
According to AAA, Texas currently has the cheapest gas prices nationwide with a state average of $2.890 per gallon while California has the highest price gas with a state average of $4.660 per gallon.
For comparison, the average a year ago in Texas sat at $1.947.
Nationally, the average is currently at $3.296 which sees a consistent decline in price over the past month from $3.409.
Locally, gas per gallon sits at $2.91 which can be found at Brookshire’s located at 2228 Island Bayou Road in Bonham.
However, according tor recent data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), crude prices crept above $70 per barrel last week and if oil prices continue to climb, pump prices will likely follow suit.
