Starbucks is reversing it policy for U.S. workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 after last week’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
In a memo sent out Tuesday, Starbucks Chief Operating Officer John Culver said, “We respect the court’s ruling and will comply.”
After a 6-3 vote, the court rejected the Biden administration’s plan to require vaccines or regular COVID testing for companies with more than 100 employees.
Earlier this month, Starbucks said it would require all employees to be vaccinated by Feb. 9 or have to take weekly COVID tests.
According to the memo, the company continues to strongly encourage vaccinations and booster shots. Vaccinated workers are required to reveal their vaccination status by Jan. 10 with the company reporting on Wednesday that 90% have reported and the “vast majority” are vaccinated.
