After House Bill 1648 – a bill authored by Rep. Justin Humphrey that would require Oklahoma’s Wildlife Conservation Commission to set up rules for a Bigfoot Hunting season – died in committee, a Hollywood Bigfoot movie has offered up to $2 million for the mythical beast’s safe capture.
According to Enid News & Eagle, Humphrey, working with Oklahoma’s tourism officials, is in the process of creating a set of rules for Bigfoot enthusiasts to participate in a “Sasquatch Quest.”
The number one rule for capturing Bigfoot is the mythical beast can not be injured, nor should anyone else be injured or any laws broken in the process.
As Humphrey planned to ask lawmakers to create a $25,000 bounty, a Hollywood Bigfoot movie said they would offer about $2 million and another business added they would offer $100,000 – eliminating the need for any state funds.
Humphrey told Enid News & Eagle that the state’s tourism officials are creating a Bigfoot promotional campaign which includes license plates, decals, an annual commemorative tracking license and “Bigfoot checkout stations.” He also said the profits earned will go toward maintaining lakes, parks and roadways.
Humphrey said the ultimate goal for the campaign is to draw in tourists through safe and affordable fun activities.
“We’re having fun with it,” he told Enid News & Eagle. “It’s a lot of fun. I’m enjoying it. But at the same time, I know a lot of people thought I was crazy. But, I think if people chill out, (they could) see that this could be a serious deal bringing in a lot of money, a lot of tourism.”
