Former Trenton High School assistant boys basketball coach Tim Cooper recently accepted the opening for the head coaching position for Savoy High School’s boys hoops program.
Previously, Cooper was an assistant coach for the Trenton Tigers while teaching at Trenton’s middle school for the last two years, where his wife teaches.
Cooper started his coaching journey in Alaska before serving in the military, postal service and other teaching jobs. Now, he looks to take over a Savoy program that put together a strong 2019 season while enduring a highly difficult 2020 season. The 2019 season saw Savoy reach the postseason for the first time in 35 years, but many of the members of that team were graduating seniors. Filling in the void of the seniors proved challenging as the Cardinals in the 2020 campaign.
