On the gridiron and the hardwood, local football and volleyball teams will continue their regular season with more key games tonight. Football teams in the area press forward with their non-district games kicking off at 7:30 p.m., while most volleyball schools are continuing to find their rhythm in district play at 4:30 p.m.

The Paris Wildcats look to bounce back from a loss at home to the defending state champion Pleasant Grove Hawks with another tall order, this time on the road. The Wildcats (2-1) aim to get back in the win column at undefeated Midlothian Heritage. Meanwhile, the Chisum Mustangs look to avenge an overtime loss at Honey Grove last week when they travel again to play at Frankston. The Prairiland Patriots are seeking a 3-1 start when they play at the Clarksville Blue Tigers, who suffered an 18-12 loss at Tom Bean. The Bonham Purple Warriors will also take the field at Blue Ridge after Bonham’s previous game at Leonard was canceled due to the pandemic affecting the Tigers’ squad.

On the volleyball court, the Paris Lady ’Cats are coming off a big home win over Van, and they are looking to do the same thing against Quinlan Ford. The Prairiland Lady Patriots, who are 3-0 in district, face another undefeated district foe in Rains as the road team, while Chisum plays at Grand Saline. Bonham will play on the road at Gunter looking to remain undefeated in district play.
