Just when you think you have heard it all, health authorities are once again urging people NOT to DRINK BLEACH.

The North Texas Poison Center said it had received 46 calls related to people ingesting bleach since Aug. 1, according to NBC 5 Dallas Fort-Worth.

“We certainly are not used to seeing bleach ingestion, at least that frequently in such a short amount of time, and we do know in general this year compared to last we’re seeing a whole lot more of bleach exposures,” said Cristina Holloway, the public health education manager at North Texas Poison Center located at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

While there has never been any evidence or confirmation from health officials that bleach is a cure for COVID, there is plenty of evidence to support that drinking bleach can kill you.

“Do not ingest bleach or other disinfectant products,” NTPC also said in a Facebook post. “It does not prevent or give you protection against the coronavirus, and can be dangerous.”

Officials at the poison center attributed the alarming increase to inaccurate and misleading information circulating online related to COVID-19 treatment.

WFAA News reported that, compared to the same time last year, the Texas Poison Center Network saw a nearly 58 percent increase in the number of calls related to bleach products.

Seriously, just don’t drink bleach.

It’s not just Texans trying to “kill the germs,” several other states, including Georgia, have reported an increase in people ingesting disinfectants in hopes that it will treat COVID-19. The Georgia Department of Public Health recently sent out an alert warning against consuming chlorine dioxide after receiving several reports about citizens using it to treat coronavirus.
