The statewide “Blue Alert” has been canceled after the suspect who prompted the issue has been arrested.
Joshua Lee Green was arrested in Arlington earlier today by Arlington SWAT officers.
Green allegedly shot one of Clay County Sheriff deputies Monday night. The officer was not seriously injured as they were wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the incident.
A Cadillac car was pulled over by Deputy Breanton Chitwood for speeding, and when Chitwood approached the vehicle, the suspect opened fire on the deputy.
According to court records, Green has been previously convicted of burglary, stalking and evading arrest.
When the Blue Alert was issued, several people were left confused because of how generic the alert was. The alert had no specific location or information about the suspect, except only “monitor radio or TV.”
Texas DPS said the Texas State Operations Center was “working with system support specialists to determine why all of the information entered into the alert system was not transmitted publicly.”
