Three Bonham Police Officers went above and beyond the call of duty when they pulled a mother and child from a burning home on Oct. 10, saving their lives.
During Bonham City Council’s Monday night meeting, the three men – Sgt. Billy Kennedy, Patrolman Trevor Franz, and Patrolman Kenneth Harris – were recognized for their brave actions and awarded a Life-Saving Award and Employees of the Quarter Award.
On Oct. 10, the officers responded to a structure fire on South 4th Street in Bonham and “without hesitation, quickly jumped into action and pulled out the two occupants.”
Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they were able to extinguish the flames while EMS aided the two.
“Congratulations … for your excellent work and for risking your own life to save others,” Timothy La Vergne II Bonham City Council Ward 2 said, recognizing the three men for going beyond the badge. “Your service and dedication to the City of Bonham don’t go unnoticed. Job well done! You make the Bonham Police Department and our City of Bonham, Texas proud! Keep up the outstanding work! Thank you again for all that you do to protect and service our communities!”
