Fanning County Judge Randy Moore is encouraging citizens to follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations of wearing a face mask.

Judge Moore released the following statement on Monday:

COVID-19 is a serious health threat. Fannin County does not have any new confirmed cases at this time. We need to continue to do all we can to prevent its spread.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) now recommends everyone wear a face mask to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have all been asked to wear a home-made mask and leave the other masks for our health care workers and first responders. These home-made masks (or even a scarf) will help keep the “wearer” from spreading the virus. Wearing a mask shows that you care about those around you.

My wife, Tina, made masks to protect others and ourselves while in public. I like the mask. It has a personal touch.

A pattern for making a mask at home can be found online. There are patterns and videos available for sewn and no-sew options. The CDC link is:

Don’t take this virus lightly… do all you can to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
• Don’t go to work if you are sick.
• Businesses, don’t let employees come in if they are sick (fever, cough…)
• Wash your hands often.
• Don’t touch your face if your hands are not clean.
• Maintain a 6-foot distance from others in public.
