A Honey Grove Police Officer who was shot while responding to a disturbance on June 16 has been released from the hospital.
“Officer Pruiett has been released from the hospital and stopped by on his way home,” said Honey Grove PD online. “Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Beginning Tuesday night, a man barricaded himself in a Honey Grove home, allegedly shooting a Honey Grove officer in the leg, sending him to the hospital. After about 10 hours, the standoff came to an end when officers entered the home at 9:20 a.m., finding the man deceased.
Officer Pruitt was flown from the scene to an area hospital.
On Friday, Honey Grove Police Chief Leigh Dixon thanked the community for their support while sending condolences to the family of the man who lost his life after an overnight standoff.
“First, I would like to thank the community for the support for Officer Pruiett and his family, the Honey Grove Police family, and the individual officers, and Constable Mayberry and his family. I want to extend my condolences to the family of Mr. Dambrogio. We don’t always understand what people may be going through and why things happen,” Dixon posted on Honey Grove PD’s social media Thursday evening.
“Our pledge is to serve and protect each of our citizens regardless of who they are or what they may be going through. We strive to be compassionate and understanding in every way.”
