Alcohol-to-go is now law in Texas after Governor Greg Abbott made it official on Wednesday.

“Alcohol to-go is now LAW in Texas,” said Abbott on Twitter. “Thank you to my partners in the legislature for getting this to my desk. #txlege.”

The bipartisan bill that was passed on Apr. 28 by the Texas Senate allows restaurants to sell beer, wine and mixed drinks to be included in pickup and delivery food orders.

At the beginning of the pandemic,  Abbott waived restrictions so restaurants could make money through to-go drinks. After restaurants began to reopen, the bill was introduced to make it law.
