Two men were found unresponsive inside a tanker car in the Trinity Rail yard just after 8:30 a.m., according to Hugo Police Chief John Mitchell.
Mitchell said both men, who have not yet been formally identified, were discovered in a railroad car at the Trinity Rail depot in Hugo.
Hugo Police Department, Hugo Fire Department, Choctaw County EMS, Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrived on the scene at approximately 8:45 a.m.
Both were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Mitchell has stated that both men were working for Trinity Rail and were refurbishing the railroad car.
OSHA and NTSB are investigating the incident.
